This drama is about a father and his daughter. The daughter living in Shanghai has decided to divorce her husband. She is doing well in a foreign trade company, while her husband has failed in business and lost self-confidence.
Her father visits them without knowing anything about the situation. She begs her husband to pretend that they are enjoying their normal marriage life, and not surprisingly the couple has to spend an awkward and unnatural life for a while.
The father tells her daughter that he has visited the city for a medical treatment, but it is not true. The fact is that he has been here to find out a woman. He left her without her consent for some political reason during the Cultural Revolution. He thinks he must make an apology to her for making her unhappy. The husband is asked by his father-in-low to find out about the woman he once loved. Luckily the two former lovers can meet after a long separation.
From these two couples・lives, we find serious problems we all face in our modern society, and they are vividly described in this drama; historical retrospect, love, home, communications between parent and child, solitude of aged people and so forth.
