朝鮮戦争当時、人民軍に焼き殺された村人１２７名の命日。 役場のユン書記は自転車で帰宅途中、意識を失う。何が起きたのか。 ユン書記は同僚のク書記と共に自身の足取りを追う。 その夜ユン書記は帰途、ハン氏に出会う。 長女が妹を追い出したと告白。家出のようだが判然としない。 ハン氏の子供たちは、らい病患者の家から養子に来たようだ。 ユン書記は、家出した次女が気にかかり、ハン氏のらい病夫婦の家を自転車で行き来する。 途中、不思議にも現実とあの世が交錯、登記所で焼死した筈の村人に出会う。 その後、暴走した牛に激突され、ユン書記は気を失う。 突如、らい病夫婦の家が炎上。燃えさかる炎の中、 らい病の妻に重なるように、登記所で焼死した村人たちの姿が浮かぶ。 During the time of Korean War, on the anniversary day of 127 village people who were burned to death by the people's Army. Town clerk Yun, on the way go home by bicycle, loses consciousness. What's happened to him? Clerk Yun starts to trance his own trail with his colleague clerk Ku. On the night on his way back Yun meets Mr.Han. Han confession that his first daughter get her sister out of the house. It looks like runaway, but it's not clear. Han's children have been adopted from the family with a leprosy patient. Yun, worrying about the runaway daughter, goes to and back from the houses of Han's and the leprosy couple by bicycle. On his way, this world and the other world somehow cross each other, and he meets the village people who died in the registry office. After that, hit by a stampeding ox, Yun loses consciousness. Suddenly the house of the leprosy couple bursts into flames. In the flames figures of the burned village people come in sight lying over the leprosy wife.
